ACCELERATED READING RULES/PROCEDURES:
Students are allowed to take accelerated reading tests on books they have read entirely that are within their assigned reading ranges. Reading ranges are assigned to each student based on the STAR test results. STAR tests are administered twice a year in order to determine a student's individual reading level. Once a student has obtained all required points each 9 week period, they are allowed to read and test outside of their reading range. Students in 5th grade are allowed to test in their classrooms and in the library.
The Accelerated Reading Home Connect program allows students and parents to view the student's A.R. test record, as well as a cumulative list of tests taken, and all quizzes available with corresponding levels and point values. The A.R. Home Connect program may be accessed at home from the MBS website. The student's A.R. user name and password is required in order to obtain the student's information. This is a valuable tool that all students and parents are encouraged to use.
The A.R. policies and procedures are designed to ensure that each student is successful in obtaining their reading goals each 9 week period.
